Mrs. Hopkins was the director of guidance, coached varsity sports, and taught physical education. She displayed a caring, loving attitude to all the people she engaged, in and out of the school. She was an incredible inspiration to the students of North Dorchester High School during her tenure there.
Mrs. Hopkins lost her battle with cancer in October of
1981. In 1982, a group of friends, colleagues, and family formed a scholarship fund in her honor. This fund provides financial assistance to graduating seniors from North Dorchester High School to assist them with their college expenses.
The first award was issued in 1982 in the amount of $1,000.00.
Since 1982, the Patricia Hopkins Scholarship Fund has awarded over $250,000 in scholarships to some very deserving college bound students.
Interested seniors submit an application and are interviewed by the board of directors of the scholarship committee. Winners are chosen by vote of the committee. The Patricia Hopkins Scholarship Fund depends on contributions to
assist these students. We ask for your support in helping these deserving students that might not otherwise be able to afford a college education.
The Board of Directors of the Patricia Hopkins Scholarship Fund appreciates any help you can offer these deserving students.
We know "Miss Pat" is proud of each and every one of them.
